Triumph of Terrassa writer Joan Francesc Fondevila Gascón at the 2026 Bellaterra Floral Games Award

The Terrassa writer Joan Francesc Fondevila Gascón has won the 2026 Bellaterra Floral Games Award and Francesc Garriga Collection of Poems Award thanks to his poetry collection “Trencant miralls”. “I feel happy and excited about this victory, which is also a way to pay tribute to people who fight daily against eating disorders, the focus of the poems”, explains Fondevila. The award ceremony took place at the Bellaterra Civic Center, in Plaça Maragall in this town.

The competition, organized by the Decentralized Municipal Entity (EMD) of Bellaterra, saw the submission of around seventy works. This is the 18th Bellaterra Floral Games, a literary competition that aims to promote creation in Catalan and recover the classic spirit of this cultural tradition. The winning poem will be published in the Diari de Bellaterra and already appears in a booklet, in addition to being part of the Bellaterra Historical Archive (AHB).

Professor and Doctor Fondevila, who has also won numerous scientific, academic, management and journalistic awards, adds a new award to his illustrious literary career. Thus, in recent months, Fondevila has won the 1st International Erotic and Love Literature Competition (with the novel “Milagro en el agua”, inspired by the 1962 flood in Terrassa and the region), the 1st Microstory and Micropoem Competition “Romería de la Virgen de las Viñas” by Tomelloso (Ciudad Real), the International Literary Competition “José Nicolás Pascual Herrero” by Magaña (Soria), the Sant Jordi Blanquerna Prize-Ramon Llull University, the Sant Jordi EAE Business School-Grup Planeta Literary Prize, the International “Margarita Dominici” Competition (Uruguay) or the Villa de El Escorial Narrative Competition (Madrid). “Writing is beautiful, and allows us to observe phenomena from the heart and project them onto the reader with the sensitivity that language gives us”, explains Fondevila. “As a university professor, combining scientific and literary creation is extremely motivating,” says the president of the Catalan Society of Communication-Institute of Catalan Studies (SCC-IEC) and director of the Centre for Cable Studies (CECABLE).
