Dr. Joan Francesc Fondevila from Terrassa wins the “Mariposas para Debra Poetry Award” in Burgos

Joan Francesc Fondevila Gascón from Terrassa, president of the Catalan Communication Society-Institute of Catalan Studies (SCC-IEC) and director of the Cable Studies Center (CECABLE), has won the “Mariposas para Debra Poetry Award”, with the work “Vuelos de esperanza”.

“I am excited and happy to have won this Award, for the beautiful and supportive values ​​it implies”, says the Terrassa’s writer. The competition is organized by Asociación DEBRA (headquartered in Marbella, Malaga) in collaboration with Burgos City Council and Burgos Municipal Library.

The DEBRA Association is a reference on the disease epidermolysis bullosa or Butterfly Skin, on which the contest and Fondevila’s poem are inspired. The aim of the initiative lies in giving visibility to this disease and to contribute to the research and care that people who suffer from it need. 131 poems have been submitted to the competition

“It’s exciting to be able to collaborate through literature with people who suffer from illnesses”, explains Professor and Doctor Fondevila, a professor at several universities, who has also recently won the QP International Scientific Prize, the Serranía Literary Prize of Guadalajara, the V Premio International Storytelling on Olive Farming, Olive Oil and Oleoturism (two wins: Social Networks and Audience Awards) and Amnesty International’s VI Human Rights Micro-Story Contest. Throughout his career, Fondevila has won numerous awards for his scientific, literary, teaching and management activities.
